Our search process...
The briefing - Each new search assignment begins with
a meeting, or series of meetings between the client and some of
our team. It is important for us to gain an open and detailed understanding
of your requirements before we represent you in the market, and
these meetings are as much about gaining a broad strategic perspective,
as they are about the finer points of the specification, the role
and requisite cultural fit. Following this briefing we issue a
formal proposal, which includes our understanding of your needs,
strategy and a timetable for the search. Some clients have very
precise views as to which institutions or areas they would like
us to explore. Others will give us a broader mandate, possibly
to cover more than one industry, sector, or geographical area in
our research.
Research
and approaches - Whilst Calvert Percival maintains an ever-growing
live database, our search process is primarily 'new project'
driven, tailored specifically for each client. The target areas
and institutions that have been agreed are, where necessary,
thoroughly mapped and in any case we speak with numerous industry
sources - key players we know well - to gain the widest appreciation
of the market in question, identifying the strongest possible
candidates. Only then will we begin to approach people, initially
by telephone, screening them and gathering as much information
as possible whilst gauging their interest, both in the client
and in the specific role. Those candidates who appear to be most
suitable are then met for interview and we produce a short list
of the most recommended contenders . |
Short
list - For each short-listed candidate we produce a concise
but informative appraisal. We also forward a full CV wherever
possible. The appraisal covers not only our assessment of the
candidate's hard skill suitability for the position, but also
their likely chemistry and cultural fit, career aspirations and
their thoughts about the role, you the client and the industry
as a whole. Subject to discussion with you we then arrange for
you to interview those preferred candidates. Throughout the process
of client interviews we remain in close contact with both you
and the contenders, ensuring that you both receive honest and
timely feedback and are kept informed of developments on an ongoing
basis.
Closure - The final stage of negotiation with a preferred
candidate can be fraught, but we are highly experienced in closing
difficult searches and we are committed to ensuring that this final
stage runs as smoothly as possible. Again, we maintain close contact
with both parties, intermediating pragmatically in the interest
of sensible commercial agreement and we coach candidates through
the resignation process to ensure their effective exit
